On April 14, 2009 took place the final of the XI National Championship for Children deprived of Parental care under the motto “SPORT – ACCESSIBLE TO EVERY CHILD!” in five sports – football, basketball, light athletics, table tennis and badminton. The event is organized by Bulgarian Sports Federation for Children Deprived of Parental Care for the 11th time. It was supported by National Sports Academy, where the event was carried out, the Standing Committee for Children, Youth, Sports and Tourisms at the Sofia City Council, Bulgarian Agency for Social Assistance, Mr. Bricolage, Sport Depot, Samsung, State Agency for Children Protection, Bulgarian Sports Totalizator.
Over 400 children from 24 specialized institutions from Sofia, Plovdiv, Rousse, Bratsigovo, Yakoruda, Roman, Sevlievo, Gabrovo, Dobrich, Shoumen, Blagoevgrad, Doupnitsa, Panagyurishte, Silistra, Dolna Banya, Haskovo, Stara Zagora, the Villages of Razliv and Batta took part in the traditional five sports competitions.

93 personal and 17 team prizes were handed by Mrs. Ivanka Hristova – Advisor of the Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Mr. Todor Monov – Deputy Chairman of State Agency for Children Protection, Mr. Dimitar Penev – the best Bulgarian football coach for XX century, Professor Lachesar Dimitrov – Rector of the National Sports Academy, Georgy Ivanov (Gonzo) and Georgy Petkov – well-known Bulgarian footballers from Professional Football Club ‘Levsky 1914’, Ivan Karadgov and Pavel Kovachev – players of Professional Footbal Club ‘CSKA’ and representatives of the sponsors.

The winner in the all-round championship is the team from Batta and they received the cup of the championshipа.

The national championships for children deprived of parental care become more and more popular among the children in these institutions. They find in these events opportunities for self expressionand a stimulus for systematic sports activities.
