In May 2009 Bulgarian Sports Federation for Children Deprived of Parental Care gave start of the “Integration of the children from the specialized institutions through systematic sports activities” project. In the realization of the project took part 500 children from 10 Bulgarian specialized institutions in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Rousse, Bourgass, Stara Zagora, Haskovo, Shoumen, Gabrovo and the Village of Batta.

The main idea of this project is to teach the children from the specialized institutions how to conscientiously take care of themselves and their physical state as it is an important part of leading a healthy life.

Personal files will be created for every child where data about their physical state and development will be registered. The aim is to increase the level of their overall physical shape and, hence, the state of health of the participants.

Every month for a six-month period the participants will be tested in accordance with indicators from a system created by specialists from the National Sports Academy. Children are motivated and results of the tests improve. Competitions in the specialized institutions are organized. The winners receive prizes.
After completion of the registration of the tests they are given to the specialists from the National Sports Academy to analyze the rate of development of the results. Children with the best results from the tests will have the opportunity to become members of the local sports clubs and to continue their sports activities. Bulgarian Sports Federation for Children Deprived of Parental Care suggests that after completion of the projects activities, personal files were created for every child, where data about their physical state and development were registered, in all Bulgarian specialized institutions for children.
