In May 2009 Bulgarian Sports Federation for Children Deprived of Parental Care gave start of the “Integration of the children from the specialized institutions through systematic sports activities” project. In the realization of the project took part 500 children from 10 Bulgarian specialized institutions in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Rousse, Bourgass, Stara Zagora, Haskovo, Shoumen, Gabrovo and the Village of Batta.

The main idea of this project is to teach the children from the specialized institutions how to conscientiously take care of themselves and their physical state as it is an important part of leading a healthy life.

Personal files were created for every child where data about their physical state and development were registered. The aim is to increase the level of their overall physical shape and, hence, the state of health of the participants.

In the course of six months five tests for physical efficiency took place according certain indicators. All the tests were carried out on the basis of a system created by specialists from the National Sports Academy. After finishing the tests they analyzed the rate of development of the results.

In the course of realization of the project the participating specialized institutions were equipped with the necessary sports devices: medical balls, skipping ropes, chronometers, weighing scales, magnetic bikes, etc., as well as prizes for the children with best results.

On November 25, 2009 in the Mr. Bricolage Store on Tsarigradsko Shausse Bulgarian Sports Federation for Children Deprived of Parental Care organizes a ceremony on the occasion of the conclusion of the project. There the specialists from the National Sports Academy will announce the results of the analyses of the tests results. The participants from the winning institution – “Knyaz Boris I” Social Educational Center in Sofia, will be given prizes.
