The Festival of Sport, Music and Dancing is organized by Bulgarian Sports Federation for Children Deprived of Parental Care with the cooperation of Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. This is a part of the project “Implementation of the engagements of Republic of Bulgaria concerning the organization and implementation of the EUROPEAN YEAR FOR COMBATING POVERTY AND SOCIAL EXCLUSION – 2010”

180 children from residential care institutions took part in the Festival. They came from institutions in Barzitsa, Varna, Gabrovo, Rousse, Sevlievo, Silistra, Stara Zagora, Shoumen and Yakoruda. They were the best sportsmen from the Christmas and Easter tournaments, together with the best singers and dancers. From June 29th to July 2nd 2010 they were guests of Albena Resort at the Black Sea. The program of the event included training and competitions in football, table tennis and light athletics, as well as singing and dancing. Dancing was divided into two departments – sports dancing and national folklore dancing. All the participants received sports equipment to wear at the Festival and also personal gifts. On the last day of their stay an excursion to the Balchik Palace and Botanical Garden was organized.

Official guests of the event were: Mr. Totyu Mladenov – Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Mr. Krassimir Stanev – Executive Director of Albena JSC, Mr. Kalin Kamenov – Deputy Chairman of the State Agency for Children Protection, Ivaylo Ivanov – Executive Director of the State Agency for Social Assistance, Dr. Zdravko Markov – Director of Social Activities and Housing Policy Department at Varna Municipality.

The Festival of Sport, Music and Dancing was full of joy, music and dances. The children were happy to participate and asked about future similar opportunities.
